De Engelse rockformatie The Darkness werd in 2003 in één klap wereldberoemd met hun hardrock-pastiche 'I Believe in a Thing Called Love'. De band tourde stadions en festivals af met hun grootse rockshow, maar in 2006 was de koek helaas op: zanger Justin Hawkins moest afkicken en de band viel uit elkaar. Na 5 jaar kwamen ze gelukkig weer bij elkaar en bracht de groep hun 4e album 'Last of Our Kind’ uit, de opvolger van het goed ontvangen reünie-album 'Hot Cakes' uit 2012. Het album werd geproduceerd door gitarist Dan Hawkins en met 'Last of Our Kind’ worden de fans weer op hun wenken bediend. Hardrock zoals hardrock bedoeld is, niet te serieus en live nog beter.
